Why neutering is important :
The most useful way of fighting overpopulation is prevention: You can help forestall further overpopulation of companion animals by getting your pet spayed or neutered.
Spaying is a medical process where a female dog or cat's ovaries and uterus are removed. In the neutering process on males, the testicles are removed. These procedures are awfully safe, and your pet will recover quickly from them. While the most important advantage of spaying is forestalling unwelcome pregnancy and litters, there are some other benefits too:
* In older animals, spaying and neutering lowers the risk of uterine infections, breast cancer, testicular cancer, and prostate gland enlargement;
* Male dogs and cats that have been neutered show less aggression alongside reduced wandering urges; and
* Female animals no longer experience the heat cycle, and the behaviours that come with it.
If you aren't sure you can afford to have this procedure done for your pet, but know it's crucial, call the Association. We may be able to help you to neuter your animal at a minimal cost.
If your pet has been spayed or neutered, many thanks! To keep on helping, consider adopting your next pet from the shelter, where many glorious pets are waiting for a forever home.
