11th February 2018

Goodness, almost half way through February already.   It is certainly getting lighter in the evenings now but still dark till almost 8 in the mornings.   For an early riser like myself, it’s a very late start.

A couple of photos for you this week to show the changing face of Gocek.   Firstly, the new building which is going up fast on the corner site where the newsagents used to be.   It looks as if there will be three shops – more handbags maybe?   The second photo shows the new frontage of West Café – I personally don’t think it looks terribly exciting….but that’s my personal view!

There is an interesting article in YellAli about inheritance laws in Turkey (CLICK HERE)  I always thought you had to have a Turkish will so maybe things have changed.

We went for a drive up past Club Marina yesterday.  The road has changed a great deal over the last couple of years (although the road surface hasn’t improved at all!).   There are now lots of boats moored out on the headlands away from the big commercial marinas and there was even a Turkish family sitting on a rug on a beach, having a picnic….in February.  We stopped to look at the remains of a car which belonged to a dead friend of ours who died 5 years ago.   Almost everything has been taken – seats, cylinder head, tyres; even the doors so only the rotting shell remains.   What’s left is certainly not biodegradable.
