17th April 2016

Hooray, we are back home in Gocek.   As I say every time, it’s great to visit the UK, see friends and family and do some shopping (!) but as soon as we land at Dalaman Airport my spirits rise and I am so happy to be back in this beautiful place.   The temperatures are around 25 during the day and according to the forecast, it should be up to 27 by the end of the week.

Childrens’ Day takes place next Saturday so, of course, the afternoons reverberate to the sounds of bugles and drums as the schoolchildren prepare for their big day.   We haven’t seen them marching round the market place yet but I imagine that will start tomorrow.

I enjoyed this article in Fethiye Times on the art of picnicking in Turkey (CLICK HERE) We have certainly enjoyed a number of relaxed picnics here, both on the beach and in the mountains – we look forward to more this year.

You might enjoy this snippet from the Hurriyet Daily News regarding the superiority of Turkish weather forecasts (CLICK HERE).  I make no comment.

I haven’t been into the town yet to see how many shops have reopened and indeed, what new additions have appeared.   More details next week.
