Great news about a new shop opening in Gocek which isn’t selling handbags!   Many of us have been visiting Babafirin in Calis for the last couple of years enjoying their wide range of speciality breads, croissants, cakes and pastries.   They have now opened a branch on the seafront opposite Lotus Restaurant (where the Belediye teagarden used to be).   There are tables for you and sit and enjoy coffee and cakes and counters full of yummy calorie laden goodies.

On the subject of food (always close to my heart) a group of us enjoyed a great lunch at Club Nen the other day.   The food and service are always good there and it is a lovely place to sit and look at the boats in the bay.   It’s also a treat to get Indian food there, I love poppadoms.

I am personally not a great fan of lokum (Turkish delight) but I know a lot of visitors buy boxes to take back as presents.   I did find this article in Hurriyet Daily News quite interesting (CLICK HERE)
particularly the way in which it is made.

Enough about food.

The weather has been pretty warm this week although we did have some rain on Friday night.   Possible thunderstorms are forecast for the next couple of days, then back to unbroken sunshine.

We collected friends from Dalaman Airport the other night;  we have never seen it so busy.  Even allowing for lots of Turkish visitors coming down for Bayram, there were a huge number of English travelers coming down the ramp.   Maybe the tourist industry will pick up this summer.   Let’s hope!
