It has been a mixed week weatherwise, some glorious days, some not so good.   I hear there was an earthquake in the UK on Saturday – trying to keep up with Turkey now!

For a short while now I have been getting marketing stuff from British Corner Shop who deliver UK items to countries abroad.   I was particularly interested to see that they stock a lot of Waitrose products (which some of you will know, is one of my addictions in the UK).   I finally thought I would give them a try and have been extremely impressed.  I know you can get a lot of things here now which were unavailable a short while ago but the price of imported goods is astronomical.   For example, Colemans Horseradish and Tartare Sauce here is 24TL (£4.60) but on this site is only £1.45.   Even taking shipping costs into consideration you could buy 6 jars and have them shipped for less than buying 4 jars here.    There is a wide range of items available and it took exactly 2 weeks for my package to arrive. No dairy products or bacon, of course!  You get discounts for recommending people so it might be worth getting a few people into a group and doing mass orders.  Let me know if anyone is interested.

There are still optimistic reports about an increase in British tourists here this year (CLICK HERE).  I do hope they are right but I wonder how many would come here rather than Marmaris or the other major holiday destinations.    We shall see…

We are planning a trip to Ikea shortly (no, sorry, a Freudian slip – I should say a trip to Izmir!!).   We are waiting for a couple of good days’ weather forecast so we can have a reasonable drive.  We have just been watching an interesting series about Ikea on BBCiPlayer so it will be even more interesting to visit this time.    Swedish meatballs….gravad lax……
