Another warm week in Gocek, a town still waiting for tourists.   However, there is a very optimistic article in Daily Sabah suggesting things might be improving (CLICK HERE).   I do hope their crystal ball is working well.

Over the years, driving into Fethiye via Calis, we have noticed a large expanse of undeveloped land on the seafront opposite the Devlet Hospital.   This article in Fethiye Times (CLICK HERE) gives some information on a proposed recreational area being planned for development this year.   Knowing Turkish time, I shall watch with interest!

On the subject of construction, we have been watching diggers and JCBs clearing out rubble from the empty space under the rockface on the right hand side of the market  place (facing the sea).    I wonder whether they are going to put a car park there?   It would be a great idea, parking in front of our building on Sundays is an absolutely shambles, vehicles parked haphazardly all over the road.

Those of you who have been reading these ramblings for a while may remember that we have enjoyed eating at the Golge restaurant in town.   It has now had a facelift and is called the Sea Shell. (photos 1 and 2)  We ate there this week, the welcome was great, food was excellent (including the yummy icecream pancakes) (photo 3) and the prices are reasonable.   It’s on the seafront on the way to D-Marin, just past the ice-cream shack.   Well worth a visit.
