22nd October 2017

Another lovely week here in Gocek, warm in the daytime but definitely a chill in the nighttime air.

We have had a busy week with family visiting.   They have been staying at the Selya Apart Hotel (CLICK HERE) which is clean, comfortable and friendly.   It’s a bit cold to use the pool, but still ideal for sunbathing.

We have also been out on their boat, Lady Selya (CLICK HERE) for a trip round the bays.   This is actually the second time we have been on this boat and it is great.  The crew are very helpful and friendly and the food is fantastic – the usual choice of fish, chicken or meatballs – but an incredible selection of meze plus constant plates of fruit through the morning and afternoon.   It also has lots of comfortable sunbeds ideal for soaking up the sun.  As usual, we admired some of the mega-yachts moored out the bays.  How the other half lives!!

We also took a drive over to Iztuzu beach near Dalyan, where we visited the Turtle Research Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre.   It was so sad to see turtles damaged by boat propellers or nets;  they are doing a fantastic job saving these extraordinary creatures.   We watched an interesting video about the work of the centre – apparently one of their biggest problems is that turtles think plastic bags are jellyfish and swallow them!   Another example of what we are doing to our wildlife.

Only another week before the time difference between Turkey and the UK changes to 3 hours – it takes me ages to get my head round it.   No comments needed, thank you.
