21st October 2018

Another bright, sunny week here in Gocek although it’s dark by 7pm.   Still, at least we shan’t be having to adjust to the clocks changing next week!   I have such difficulty in adjusting to a 3 hour time difference with the UK.

We went over to the big Kipa in Calis this week to do some shopping.   It wasn’t till we came out that we realized it has now become another MMM Migros!   We knew, of course, that Migros owns Kipa but it will be interesting to see if Kipa here in town changes its name;  particularly as we already have two Migros named stores here.   Confusing!

We have never been up to the Black Sea area of Turkey but I thought these photos absolutely stunning (CLICK HERE)   Definitely on our list for the future!

The town is still surprisingly busy although very few European voices.   Still, the gulets still seem to be going out most days.   Apparently a party boat came in one evening last week with a load of very happy tourists.   A big fight developed on the seafront with the jandarma having to intervene – whatever happened to our quiet peaceful town?

Following our trip to IKEA in Antalya, we ordered some new furniture to be delivered.   We didn’t really know what to do with the old sofa and chairs, as they were pretty dilapidated so we got them downstairs and abandoned them by the rubbish bins.    Next thing they were being loaded onto our landlord’s truck to be taken up to his village.   Nothing ever goes to waste here in Turkey. The new furniture was delivered efficiently and Pete spent a few happy hours assembling everything.    We can now sit in comfort.
