23rd October 2016
Two-thirds of the way through October and the temperature on the balcony today is 27.9. In town the other day, it was 32 degrees – amazing. I have a nasty feeling that sooner or later the temperatures will drop dramatically and winter will start without any chance to acclimatize.
We went to Olu Deniz this week. We hadn’t been for a couple of years and it was quite pleasant now that the season is coming to an end. I certainly wouldn’t want to go there in high season but there aren’t many people around now and it was nice to wander around.
We went to the lagoon which we last visited about nine years ago – it has certainly altered with paved paths and quite a few water attractions. As we were there with my family we were mad enough to go out on a pedalo shaped like a small car – good fun.
We have been looking at flights to the UK for Christmas and are disappointed to learn that Thomas Cook aren’t offering any flights at all from Dalaman to London this winter. It was such good news a couple of years ago when they were offering weekly flights all through the winter but I suppose the tourism figures don’t make it worthwhile – even though there are still a lot of folk like us who spend a lot of time here but still want to get back during the winter.
Having watched the paragliders coming down in Olu Deniz from Babadag, I was interested to find this article in Fethiye Times (CLICK HERE) I remember the thrill of doing the paraglide jump a couple of years ago, but the drive up the mountain was a bit scary – a cable car sounds a much better idea.
