25th February 2018

So this is the last Life in Gocek for February.   There are definitely signs of spring here.  The trees by the canal are showing green buds, lots of blossom on the trees and the frogs are still clamouring in the water.

There is a bit more life in town now.   The new building where Zeki the newsagent used to be, is really coming on now.  At this rate we shall find out pretty shortly whether there will be more handbag shops.

I took a wander the other day along the main drag but out of town heading towards the Petrol Offisi.   I was surprised to come across an ‘Artisan café’ which I had never seen before.   It advertises Turkish coffee (of course) and other coffees such as latte.   I am not sure if it does food – I will investigate further.

A couple of years ago we visited the archaeological site at Perge, the other side of Antalya.    I have to say, we were not very impressed – there seemed to be an awful lots of columns but not much else.   However, according to this article in Hurriyet Daily News (CLICK HERE). It might be worth visiting again some time in the future.

I have mentioned a couple of times recently that there seems to be a bigger emphasis this year on keeping the town tidy.   This article in Fethiye Times gives some background to the vast number of Temiz Tut signs sprouting up everywhere. (CLICK HERE).  We shall see…..
