2nd April 2017

At long last they have started paving the main shopping street – it will look good when they have finished although we were told yesterday by one of the shopkeepers that it won’t be finished until the end of April!

One of the many things I have to get used to when returning to the UK are the restrictions on plastic bag availablility.    Well, it looks as if Turkey is following the same route (CLICK HERE)

We discovered a fantastic new restaurant this week rıght off the beaten track and yet it is only 10 minutes from Gocek.  Keyif Tepesi is in Taşbaşı on the back road from Gocek to Gökçeovacık and is the fırst buildıng on the right after the cemetery.  (I can gıve you directıons if you want)

It has a large seating area both indoors and out, a large open fire place for the winter months, a yürt (traditional Turkish tent), a tree house which sleeps 2 people and a water feature.  There are some chickens, ducks, peacocks and a turkey to make the place even more interesting.   As there isn't a set menu, it is best to phone to make a reservatıon so you can choose what you want to eat.   It is open for breakfast and lunch as well as evening meals.  We enjoyed a number of meze, a delicious shoulder of lamb and a dessert.   The phone number is 0537 7430763.   It is well worth the short drive from Gocek

We are off to the UK for a short break next Wednesday.   It will be interesting to experience the new security measures at Dalaman Airport.
