2nd September 2018
So we are into September. There are lots of references to autumn here in the UK now but I am sure when we get back to Gocek on Wednesday, summer will still be in full swing!
We spent 3 days in Cornwall this week visiting friends whom we know well as they have a house in Gocek. As I have said before, it’s always interesting to see friends in a different context…wearing clothes, for example! We always love visiting Cornwall, the lovely old stone cottages and rolling countryside. We drove back through Dartmoor which is always a delight….full of sheep and cows and we even saw one pony!
Although we are lucky enough to hold residence permits, many of our friends who only spend short stays in Turkey travel on e-visas. This is an article worth reading in Fethiye Times (CLICK HERE) before you book your e-visa.
The conversion rate from sterling to Turkish lira is still amazing – 8.48 yesterday. If you are thinking of coming out during the autumn, it might be worth changing your sterling now.
Do you fancy being a ‘professional tourist’? This article in Hurriyet Daily News covers a story on one lucky guy who has this job in the Ortaca/Dalyan area. I must have a look at his website to see if there is anything he has found which I have missed. (CLICK HERE).
So the next couple of days will be spent loading suitcases, weighing suitcases taking stuff out, putting stuff in….you know the drill. So next Sunday really will be my Life in Gocek….can’t wait.
