3rd December 2017

Good morning from a very chilly Wellington, 0 degrees last night and only 6 forecast for today.  I keep getting messages from friends telling me how warm it is in Gocek – thanks a lot.

I know I always moan about recycling whenever I am in the UK but it is such a bind.    I appreciate the reasons for sorting out types of waste but I’m afraid that I find it an awful chore after Turkey, where everything goes in the bin and is collected every day (and twice on market day).

I have often seen signs for kokorec in Turkey and knew vaguely that it was something to do with offal.   This is an interesting article in Fethiye Times (CLICK HERE). I’m not sure this has moved any further up my list of goodies to be tried.

Still on the subject of food, this article in Hurriyet Daily News suggests that the EU may ban some types of kebab.   (CLICK HERE).  Words fail me.

Christmas is in full swing over here.   Wellington town Christmas lights are being switched on tonight, the shops are full of Christmas ‘bargains’ and Christmas trees are on sale everywhere.   It is only the beginning of December – still three and a half weeks to go!

So think of us this week huddled by the fire with layers of sweaters, thick socks and trousers.   We might have to indulge in the odd hot toddy to keep us warm.
