4th November 2018

Another sunny week here in Gocek – it certainly doesn’t feel like November.

During our time here we have visited the Greek island of Kastelorizo (Meis) a number of times.   I was interested in this article (CLICK HERE). I certainly don’t like the idea of live ammunition exercises in the area!

We held our last book club meeting for the year last week.   It seems to have been much more successful since we cut the number of meetings to 6, concentrating on the months when most of our members are in Gocek.   The timetable for 2019 is now on Gocek Events, see the home page for details.

We are quite used to learning about bizarre customs here in Turkey but breeding scorpions??
(CLICK HERE) I don’t think I would want to live anywhere near.

Gocek is definitely getting quieter now although there are still quite a lot of boats in the marina.   Shops are starting to shut at the end of the season and we are waiting to find out which shops and restaurants will stay open during the winter.   We were pleased to find out the other day that the restaurant at Dim Elit hotel is staying open – one more place to eat out!

It is strange to think that tomorrow is Bonfire Night in the UK – we only seem to get fireworks at weddings here!
